Bring a pot of water to a boil to cook the pasta. When it comes to a boil, add pasta and salt to season the cooking water. Cook pasta according to package instructions and set aside.
While water comes to a boil and the pasta is cooking, heat a deep skillet over medium heat. Add extra-virgin olive oil then butter. Add ground turkey and break it up as it cooks until brown. Add garlic, onions, cherry tomatoes and seasonings to the skillet. Bring to a boil and lower to a simmer for 5-7 minutes.
Add the cooked pasta to the skillet for 1 minute. Adjust seasonings and serve. Garnish with fresh parsley and parmesan cheese.
